THE RIDGEWOOD INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION
1. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
The RCC International Salon is open to all photographers around the world. However, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions.
Submission of entries implies the acceptance of all conditions. The entrant must be the owner of all rights of the submitted works. Entry is not limited to images created and or modified digitally. Images may also be acquired and/or modified traditionally and then scanned. The images must be submitted as Electronic files only.
By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own and permits the sponsors to reproduce any part of the entered material free of charge for publication on a CD-ROM catalog, on an Internet Website and/or display in media related to the exhibition such as a published catalog. The Exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright by the entrant.
2. COMPETITION DIVISIONS:
Recognition received for Both CPID and Nature Divisions
3. SECTIONS:
There will be three Sections:
COLOR OPEN DIGITAL
NATURE OPEN DIGITAL
NATURE WILDLIFE DIGITAL
Acceptances in all sections will count towards Who’s Who and star ratings.
The digital entries in Color Open, Nature Open and Nature Wildlife Sections will be judged separately. Entries in the all three sections may only be submitted online. CD’s will not be accepted.
Nature Definitions
Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals is permissible. Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens, or obviously set arrangements, are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add to, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. The removal, or manipulation, of colors contained within the original image to enable the production of monochrome images is permitted.
Authentic Wildlife is defined as one or more organisms, living free and unrestrained in a natural or adopted habitat. Therefore landscapes, photographs of zoo animals, game farm animals, or any living subject taken under controlled conditions are not eligible for entry in Wildlife competitions.
4. ENTRY FORM and IMAGE FILE SUBMISSIONS:
The Entry form and image files must be submitted electronically. Go to our website, www.ridgewoodcameraclub.org and use the navigation bar on the left side to point to International Exhibition and navigate to the Digital Entry From
The Entry Form is divided into two parts. The first part is for entering your personal information and is self-explanatory. The second part is for specifying your image files. The entry process has been streamlined to make it easier for you. All you need to do for each image you desire to submit is to place the Title that you want associated with the image in the Title field and then use the Browse button to select the image that you want to submit. The image can have any file name that you use for your inventory of images and need not conform to any naming convention. It can be as arcane as _IMG_4358.JPG.
Your images need be in JPG format and should use the color profile sRGB.
The dimensions of the image are limited to 768 pixels in both directions, horizontal and vertical. This is not a capricious specification and is done to make horizontal and vertical images the same projected size. Digital cameras record in either a 2x3 or 3x4 aspect ratio. Thus in the 2x3 aspect ratio both horizontal and vertical images will be the same size either 768x512 or 512x786 pixels and 4x3 aspect ratio images will be either 768x576 or 576x768 pixels. This emulates the characteristics of a film slide whose dimensions are equal independent of whether they are horizontal or vertical images. IF YOU HAVE IMAGES SIZED TO 1024 X 768 PIXELS AND DO NOT WANT TO RESIZE THEM ENTER THEM IN THE 1024 X 768 SIZE AND WE WILL RESIZE THEM FOR YOU. Limit images to be resized to less than 6 megapixels. You need not be overly concerned about file size as we will accept any file that is smaller than 2.0 MB and the aggregate of all files is limited to 32 MB. Generate your files with the highest quality of JPG compression as long as they conform to the maximums just given.
The status of the entry fee and the files received will be listed. The list will be updated, at least, weekly. Please check the status of your entries on the Web Site within the week after sending so problems can be resolved if necessary and to check on receipt of payment. The status can be found by going to the navigation bar on the left side to point to International Exhibition and navigate to the Digital Entry Status page.
5. JUDGING:
Judging will be done by projecting images on a screen with an Electronic Projector at a resolution of 1024 X 768 set to 16.7 million colors. In each section the entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging.
Three judges will be used with a score from each judge ranging from 1 to 5. The sum of the three scores will be used to determine acceptance. Each Image will have a Minimum score 3, or a Maximum score of 15.
