Mark Bowie

Also, we have scheduled a special presentation on Wednesday, October 19th entitles “The Light of Midnight: Photographing the Landscape at Night“ by Mark Bowie.  You can check out Mark’s website at: http://www.markbowie.com
Note that this presentation is cosponsored by Hunt's photo.

Nature photographer Mark Bowie, a specialist on photographing the landscape at night, will give a presentation on nocturnal landscape photography.  He will discuss techniques for determining nighttime exposures, focusing in the dark, shooting long exposures, double exposures, timed intervals, and “painting” with artificial light.  He will also discuss shooting exposures only seconds long to eight hours, with tips on photographing star trails, planets, moonlit landscapes, lightning, fireworks, city lights and the Northern Lights.
What makes this presentation so special is that Mark has agreed to lead a Field Season on the night after the presentation. Thursday October 20th.  The Field Season will give you the opportunity to put into practice the techniques from the presentation.

Field Session Overview:
Fee: $30/person, check made payable to Mark Bowie, collected by the Lou Kalmar (201 280 2404) two weeks prior to the event.
# Participants: 5 minimum, 12 maximum
Skill Level: All photographers are welcome, from beginner to advanced.

What to Bring to Field Session:
• Tripod
• Digital or film camera.  A digital camera is preferable, as it allows feedback in the field.  When shooting film at night, Mark prefers Fuji Provia 100F or 400F.
• A cable release, preferably one that locks, for long exposures.
• Extra batteries.
• Flashlight or headlamp.  Capping them with a red plastic filter will help keep excess light out of others' exposures.
• Appropriate outdoor wear for a possibly chilly night.
