Instructor - Jia Han Dong
Instructor Biography - My interest in photography started in my high school years. I picked it up again around 1997. Exclusively in slides since 2000. Then I got my first DSRL in 2003. I joined RCC in 2006. I believe that no one sees this world in the same way through their own eyes. It's very gratifying for me to know that people I know, people I have never met, and people I will never meet can be connected to me through my photographs.
Location - Wyckoff Ambulance Corps.
Description - In this digital age, photography is no longer a luxury hobby. Any one
can pick up a digital camera and claim themselves a photographer. But how do
we see this world through our lens? How do we control every step of
the way to make sure our final images reflect what we saw with our
eyes? Furthermore, reflect what we saw with our "mind's eye"?
"Visualization in Photography" is a presentation about how to express
ourselves with our photographs.

Description - Improve Your Photography: Understanding Story Elements
Leave all thoughts of equipment, software, f/stops, exposure, fill flash, pixels, composition, depth of field, and light at the door!
Take a moment and start thinking about the elements that create "story."
Our conversation will include examining literature-based story elements along with examining two pieces of art (pieces to be announced) from the National Gallery of Art. Our discussion will include story vs. anti-story -- we will then work in small groups ranking pieces of art on a continuum from anti-story to story. (Don't worry! There are no correct answers during this exercise! This is just an activity to help us start thinking about our work in terms of strong story vs. weak story.)
After this discussion, we will view a project created using iMovie -- we will look at a sequence of photographs without music, with music, and with music/story. What impact did all of these elements have or not have?
The basics of iMovie will also be presented.
